Assignment 1

The next step in greeting is to inquire the news of people in more detail. Typical questions are, Habari za nyumbani? (How are things at home?), Habari za baba? (How is the father?), Habari za mama? (How is the mother?), Habari za watoto? (How are the children?) The answer to these questions is, Hajambo (if singular) or Hawajambo (if plural). The reply does not reflect the real truth. If the person is ill, for example, one may reply , Hajambo, lakini... (then explains what kind of trouble the person has). When one meets a person, who is working, the greeting may include the question Habari za kazi? (news of the work) or express sympathies by saying Pole na kazi (Sympathies for having to work). Type an expression meaning How are things at home (without question mark). You can use the singular or plural form, that is, habari ya nyumbani or habari za nyumbani "sema" +V+IMP+VFIN+[sema]+SVO+{say+,+speak+,+advise}sema +V+IMP+VFIN+[sema]+SVO+{scold+,+speak against+,+backbite}sema +V+kwisha+[sema]+SVO+{say+,+speak+,+advise}sema +V+kwisha+[sema]+SVO+{scold+,+speak against+,+backbite}sema +IMP+VFIN+[sema]+SVO+{say+,+speak+,+advise}sema +IMP+VFIN+[sema]+SVO+{scold+,+speak against+,+backbite}sema +kwisha+[sema]+SVO+{say+,+speak+,+advise}sema +kwisha+[sema]+SVO+{scold+,+speak against+,+backbite}sema
